Natural gas fire

Monday morning I headed down to a well fire on Stonewall-Frierson Road. I did not know what to expect after the original explosion Sunday night.

The media was allowed to take position several hundred yards down the road to get shots of the activity. The only problem was that nobody was working near the fire since it had already been contained and the workers were waiting for a team to begin efforts to cap the well.

Lots of nice shots of fire but it needed something to put the photograph into perspective. I saw a couple of ducks in a nearby pond but even with a long lens they were just too far removed from the scene. After wandering around for a minute I found this birdhouse in nearby front yard.
