Senior Olympics
For the last month hundreds of area residents have participated in the annual Senior Olympics at various locations in and around Shreveport. Events have included Miniature Golf, Marksmanship, Shuffleboard, Washer Pitching, Bait Casting and many others. I have had the chance to photograph a number of the events for an online photo gallery as well as the Living front in today's newspaper.
I was told by a number of individuals that the Bean Bag Baseball was favorite sport, however all of the seniors enjoyed the recreation and the conversation between and during events. I learned about a lot about grandkids, late spouses, careers, and how to play a card game called Skip-Bo. Not to mention watching a grandmother throw a pass with a decent spiral during the football accuracy throws.
The games end with an athletes' celebration at the Southern Hills Rec center Saturday May 19th at 6pm.
And interesting two weeks............
