Dedication

Since photographers are usually the ones dealing with snow and mud and dirt and bad weather and so on, I'm always impressed with our reporters who are willing to get their hands dirty and get involved with a story. A few years back, it was reporter Francis McCabe who got tasered for a story about the police department. The look on his face is priceless. (Photo by Jim Hudelson/The Times) Francis is a great reporter (now working for the Las Vegas Review Journal) who always got excited to go out on assignment. At the place he worked before he joined The Times, Francis had his back waxed!

This time it was Preview editor Stephanie Netherton's turn. We went to Nickelodeon's Slime Across America Tour at the Louisiana Boardwalk, and after the fun was over, Stephanie got slimed too! What I found funny, was that several media folks were scheduled to get slimed, but for whatever reason, at the end of the event, after most of the kids and parents had gone, Stephanie was the only media member still lurking, anxiously awaiting her chance to get slimed. She was like a little kid. "So is it gonna happen?" I remember her asking one of the Nickelodeon reps. Finally, she got her wish and had green slime oozing through her hair! But, alas, I'm not a writer, so I leave it to Ms. Netherton to tell the story of her experience in her blog Behind the Slime. (You can also check out a gallery of images from the event here.)

When I looked over my photos of Stephanie, the word "dedication" came to mind, so I whipped up this image to mimic those inspirational posters found in countless businesses.

Slime is nothing in comparison to being Tasered! Francis is still the No. 1 when it comes to getting a little dirty for a good story!

So, did you get slimed as well? How did she get the stuff out of her hair? Were there any other after effects for an older person getting slimed as she did?

No I didnt get slimed. I really didnt have any interest. But she looked like she was having fun. She said a day or two later her scalp was still green after SEVERAL washes. You she read her story (click on the link) to learn more about what her experience was like.
